About the Time-Critical Medications Dashboard
This joint project between The PSC and Parkinson’s UK developed a time-critical medications dashboard to quantify the clinical and financial impact of delayed or missed Parkinson’s medication across England, Scotland and Wales, at national, ICB, NHS Trust and health board levels. The dashboard models outcomes such as length of stay, staff time, mortality and readmissions, alongside associated costs, and enables organisations to assess the potential benefits of different improvement approaches, including self-administration, staff training and e-prescribing.
While centred on Parkinson’s, the project also demonstrates the wider relevance of time-critical medication, with indicative modelling suggesting overall costs could be 7–8 times higher when other conditions are considered. Together, The PSC and Parkinson’s UK designed the dashboard to address real-world challenges faced by health professionals, particularly the lack of robust baseline data, and to provide a practical, credible tool for demonstrating impact, securing senior buy-in and supporting sustained quality improvement.
Alongside the dashboard, Parkinson’s UK has developed resources relating to “Time critical medication: 10 recommendations for your hospital”, for each hospital in the country to implement. The dashboard is a critical part of a broader improvement programme relating to Time-Critical Medications, with many NHS organisations involved in delivering improvements as set out here.
You explore the dashboard and Parkinson's UK resources on this website.
Winners will be announced at the awards ceremony on 19th March 2026 at Evolution London. The event celebrates excellence in healthcare, promotes best practice, and recognises the people and projects improving outcomes for patients nationwide.
