We value the breadth of experience our freelance associates bring.
What is the role?
Our Associates work alongside our core consulting team to deliver lasting change in public services, while retaining the flexibility that freelance working offers. As an associate, you will be an integral part of our team, building strong working relationships with our staff and clients.
Engagements may range from short pieces of work lasting a few days to longer-term assignments on a part-time or full-time basis. Depending on your experience and interests, you may take on a broad project role or provide specialist expertise within a wider programme.
Skills and experience
Associates join us at different levels, from junior to board level, reflecting their skills and experience, and work collaboratively with our consultants, clients, and partners.
At the moment we are particularly interested in associates with expertise in one or more of the following areas:
Digital, Data & Technical Skilled associates - we are looking for
- Front End/ UI developers, with skills including Angular 14+, TypeScript, RxJS
- Python developers, including Docker and GIS technologies
- DevOps developers, particularly Kubernetes and AWS
- Business architecture, business analyst, service design and target operating model design skills. We are particularly interested in experience delivering large scale transformation within central government
In all instances, it would be nice but not essential to have:
- a degree in a STEM or related analytical discipline (e.g. science, technology, engineering, mathematics, economics or similar)
- experience in space and satellites, security, or clinical and health.
Due to the nature of many of our Digi projects, candidates must hold an active Security Clearance or be eligible for security clearance and be sole UK nationals. This is a contractual requirement of our Government clients and is not within The PSC’s discretion to waive.
What happens next?
When you apply for an associate role, you will first be asked to complete a few short equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI) questions. This information is collected anonymously and is used solely for monitoring and reporting purposes. It does not form part of the assessment of your application. This is followed by a few questions about your skills and experience. We do not expect you to have experience across all areas listed, however your responses will help us understand your experience better and match you more effectively to suitable project opportunities.
We review applications on an ongoing basis. If your profile aligns with our current or imminently upcoming project opportunities, we will keep your CV on record and contact you to arrange an initial call to discuss potential project(s). Where we decide to proceed with an application, we will invite you to a case-based interview with one or two senior members of our team. This helps us better understand your experience and how you might contribute to our work.
