The Problem Definition Sheet
Introducing the PDS as a tool to capture the essence of your project
The Problem Definition Sheet (‘PDS’) is a one page overview of the objectives for a project where the required output and success factors are clear (the ‘solution space’), but the answer is not. It shows the boundaries of what the project will involve. Its main purpose is to ensure that the project team and stakeholders start the project from the same base. This video explains how to start using the PDS to define your project.
If you are viewing this video as pre-work for a training workshop, choose a project you are working on, or will be soon. Have a go at completing your own PDS for that project, ready to discuss in the workshop. Remember that the PDS is rarely perfect first time; discussing it with others usually improves it.
